Florida Nurses Advocate to Congressman!
Constance Brown, RN and Executive Director of United Community Outreach Inc. spoke on behalf of Central Florida Black Nurses Association of Orlando and Florida Clinicians for Climate Action at Congressman Maxwell Frost's press conference in his Orlando office. Nurse Constance spoke on the services provided to the community, the impacts of the shut down on residents and the need for affordable healthcare.

FCCA Launches Putting the Chill on Heat Program!
With the generous support from Allegany Franciscan Ministries, FCCA launched Putting the Chill on Extreme Heat at the Florida General Baptist Convention in Central Florida. The project brings immediate lifesaving information to vulnerable communities related to extreme heat -- educating them on heat stroke, heat exhaustion and other heat-related illnesses.
We look forward to hosting more of these training sessions for the year!

This zoom orientation for Project C-HOT was attended by 100 community health workers. If they complete the 4-part training, they will be certified Climate Health Outreach Team Educators, which permits them to educate citizens in their communities on heat risks and effective adaptation strategies.

FCCA brought together nurses to discuss the health impacts of climate change-- from rising temperatures to extreme weather and air quality issues. Attendees across the state also learned how to protect communities from the health effects of a changing climate.
